CAMPUS JUSTICIA
EDIFICIO DE LOS JUZAGADOS PENALES

Madrid, Spain
2007

Campus Justicia Penal

The design for the Edificio de los Juzgados de lo Penal is inspired by the strength of nature’s organic forms and the transparency of new glass technology. The building represents an innovative model of sustainable strategies for the 21st century with the highest standards of architectural form, engineering and planning.

Shaded by day and glowing at night, the building’s iconic form expresses principles of equality, transparency and accessibility. Exhibiting strength and transparency, the organic large-scale exoskeleton shading structure protects a continuous glass skin, establishing a strong connection between citizens, nature and their government. The building serves as a symbol of the forward reaching role of the judiciary in the Regional Government of Madrid and gives appropriate recognition to each participant (judges, jury, witnesses, litigants, lawyers and spectators) in the judicial process.
